Bale frustrated by 'disappointing' Tottenham result

Published 1 Comments

Gareth Bale has revealed his frustration at Tottenham's failure to break down Stoke on Saturday, with Spurs having to settle for a point rather than three at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham were in charge from the first to the last against the Potters, with the shot count showing 21 strikes on goal for the home team compared to only four from the visitors.

Andre Villas-Boas praised Stoke for having the 'best defence in Europe' after the stalemate in north London, but there was no escaping Spurs were unable to capitalise on their dominance.

Spurs' frustration was compounded with wins for Arsenal and Chelsea meaning Villas-Boas' side have slipped out of the prestigious Champions League places.

Bale has now focused his attention on Tottenham's meeting with Aston Villa on Boxing Day, where a point will be enough to take them above Arsenal with the Gunners' not in action again until December 29th.

“We were on the front foot for most of the game [against Stoke] but it was difficult,” Bale told the official Tottenham website.

“They didn’t have too many chances, we had most of the possession and most of the opportunities.

“It was a bit disappointing not to get the win because we deserved it overall, but it’s a point, we move on and we now look to Villa.”
