Rafa Benitez looks to continue Chelsea’s impressive recent form with victory over Norwich at Carrow Road today.
The Chelsea boss guided the Blues to a famous 8-0 win against Aston Villa last Sunday, and the Spaniard is unlikely to make many changes from the starting XI that took apart Paul Lambert’s young Villa side.
But John Obi Mikel is back in contention following the completion of his three-game ban, and the Nigerian could return to the Chelsea team. David Luiz’s excellent performance in the holding midfield role means Mikel could replace Frank Lampard rather than the Brazilian.
John Terry is unlikely to be fit to face the Canaries, while Ryan Bertrand is still struggling with a groin injury and is rated as doubtful.
Fernando Torres, back among the goals under Benitez, will continue to spearhead the attack, but the Chelsea boss could opt for a slight reshuffle behind the striker.
Victor Moses, Eden Hazard and Juan Mata have all played regularly recently, and following the long trip to Japan for the Club World Cup, Benitez could go for the fresher legged Oscar in an advanced attacking midfield position.
Elsewhere, history suggests this could be a tough fixture for Norwich – they have not beaten Chelsea in their last eight attempts and the Stamford Bridge outfit haven not lost in their last seven Boxing Day matches. An imposing combination.
So, with the kick-off set for 3pm, GMF gives you it’s predicted line-up...
Cech, Azpilicueta, Cahill, Ivanovic, Cole, Mikel, Luiz, Oscar, Moses, Hazard, Torres
