Arsenal are being linked with a shock move for Leicester City winger Anthony Knockaert.

The French U21 international has been in fine form at the Walkers Stadium this season, impressing for the Foxes since joining from Guingamp in the summer transfer window.

His form has alerted Gunners chief Arsene Wenger, according to RMC, with the north London outfit now considering a New Year bid for the player.

Metro goes on to claim that the Foxes value Knockaert in the region of £5 million, and that Arsenal are set to send scouts to watch the 21-year-old in action over the festive period.

However, manager Nigel Pearson – who does not discuss transfer speculation – responded to a question on the player’s future after the 0-0 draw against Hull by saying Knockaert was ‘unavailable’ in the New Year.

Metro claims Arsenal are looking to make three signings in January, as the club look to get back into contention for Champions League places this season.

However, the Emirates Stadium outfit won’t have everything their own way if they do decide to pursue the Npower Championship star, with Premier League rivals Fulham and Sunderland also keen, according to the report.
