Martin Keown has called on Arsenal fans to give Arsene Wenger time to turn around the club's fortunes. The former-Gunners centre-back believes Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Keiran Gibbs and Wojciech Szczesny should be given a chance to take the team forward.

Chelsea are at the centre of a row with Nottingham Forest after defender Sam Hutchinson suffered a severe reaction to treatment on a knee injury. Forest are paying a significant chunk of the player's wages to take him on loan, but the Championship feel Chelsea's medical team have mismanaged Hutchinson's recovery.

Everton are ready to take Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott back to Goodison Park. The England international has fallen out of favour at the Etihad Stadium, with Roberto Mancini keen to bring in either PSG centre-back Mamadou Sakho or Liverpool ace Daniel Agger.

Lionel Messi took his tally for the year to 88 with another brace for Barcelona last night. The Argentinian forward scored both goals as Tito Vilanova's side beat Cordoba 2-0 in the first-leg of their Copa Del Rey tie.
