Lazar Markovic is on the radar of Chelsea, but his countryman and ex-Blues player Mateja Kezman has advised the Serbian striker not to make the move to west London.

Kezman, who enjoyed the best spell of his career at PSV Eindhoven before moving to Stamford Bridge, doesn't want the 18-year-old to ‘disappear’ like Belgian starlet Romelu Lukaku.

Kezman was at the King's Road during the 2004-2005 season, and played 25 games for the Blues. And, if Markovic were to join Rafa Benitez’s side, he thinks the teenager would not get a chance to prove himself in the English capital.

“I hope that the quality and talent Markovic is able to prove, but I’m afraid there are common examples of players who have ‘disappeared’ (at Chelsea), such as Romelu Lukaku,” Kezman told Serbian newspaper Sportski Zurnal, according to The Daily Express.

The striker had his own chance to make a big move at the early stage of his career, but opted for the Eredivisie over AC Milan. For Kezman, it’s the best choice for a young player.

“I had, at one time, an offer from Milan, however I decided to go to PSV. For a young player , the Dutch or Spanish league is the best choice,” he concluded.

Markovic has earned six caps for his country after becoming a regular for Partizan last season, whilst Kezman played 49 times on the international stage – including caps for Yugoslavia.
