Borussia Dortmund want to take Nuri Sahin back to Germany - but Liverpool could yet be tempted into keeping him permanently, reports talkSPORT.

The 24-year-old arrived on Merseyside in the summer, on a season-long loan from Real Madrid, with the Turkish international enjoying mixed fortunes so far, with some impressive Premier League displays combined with a number of underwhelming performances.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers will wait and make a decision on whether he wants to keep Sahin at Anfield at the end of the season, but his hopes of making the midfielder's move permanent could be thwarted by interest from his former club Borussia Dortmund.

Sahin left the reigning Bundesliga champions less than two years ago, when he moved to the Santiago Bernabeu in an £8.1million deal. However, Jose Mourinho is now believed to be open to the idea of cashing in on him, due to the surplus of creative midfield options he has in the Spanish capital.

Borussia Dortmund have already approached Real Madrid regarding Sahin's availability and are likely to press ahead with a move in the summer, and rival Liverpool for the player's signature.
