Real Madrid are set to step up the chase for Tottenham Hotspur talisman Gareth Bale and are preparing a £56.6million bid for him.
According to The Express, the club from the famed Santiago Bernabeu have been eager to lure the Welshman away from White Hart Lane and will up their efforts with the prospect of some of their biggest stars departing next summer.
Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas recently rejected the notion that Bale would leave north London in the near future but admitted it would be impossible to stop him if certain things came to pass, as that was the nature of the business they operated in.
However, Villas-Boas may not be too pleased by a report from Spanish paper Mundo Deportivo, which claims Real Madrid are preparing a €70million bid for the summer and los Blancos believe it will be enough to get their man.
Bale had been in sensational form for Tottenham this season, scoring six goals in 14 Premier League appearances and five of those in the last nine, but a recent hamstring injury has halted that progress momentarily.
Bale is expected to be have recovered in time for Spurs’ next league fixture, in Wales against Swansea City on Sunday afternoon.
