Liverpool are closing in on the £6million January signing of Blackpool winger Thomas Ince, according to the Daily Mirror.

The England U21 international has been earning rave reviews at Bloomfield Road this season, following his £250,000 move from Liverpool less than 18 months ago.

Now Brendan Rodgers wants to bring Ince back to Anfield, after watching him impress in the Championship.

The 20-year-old left under previous management after being deemed not good enough for Liverpool's first-team, however the new coach - who has a reputation for nurturing and bringing through young players - wants to reunite him with the Merseyside outfit.

Ince is the son of former Liverpool midfielder Paul, and despite being valued at £6million, he will only cost the club around £4million because the Reds still hold a 35 per cent sell-on clause.

Negotiations between the two clubs are believed to be at an advanced stage, with Rodgers already making clear he will not stand in the way of any of Liverpool's fringe players if they want to leave the club in the New Year.
