Southampton have signed midfielder Youssef Safri from Coca-Cola Championship rivals Norwich for an undisclosed fee.

The 30-year-old´s Carrow Road future was all but over following an outburst from manager Peter Grant after the Morocco international missed the team´s official photo call on Monday. Safri agreed to become Saints boss George Burley´s fourth new signing of the summer, penning a two-year deal at St Mary´s.

Burley told the club´s official website, www.saintsfc.co.uk: "I´m very pleased we have signed Youssef as he´s a player I´ve admired for a long time."
