Manchester City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson believes Martin Petrov will have a key role to play in the coming weeks.
The £4.5million buy from Atletico Madrid made his bow in the 2-0 victory against Shrewsbury in a friendly at the New Meadow on Wednesday night, where he played in the first half and impressed the Swede with his contribution.
Eriksson said: "I think he did well in his first game. You can see he will be extremely useful to us. There was good shooting, good crosses and good set pieces from him. He also brings a lot of experience. He will be an important player for the club."
