Sheffield United manager Bryan Robson hopes to have signed Everton striker James Beattie by the end of the week.

The 29-year-old former England international only managed two goals in 15 games during an injury-plagued season at Goodison Park last term but Blades boss Robson remains keen to lure him to Bramall Lane.

He told the club´s official website, "Negotiations have gone well with James and his advisors so hopefully there will be something by the end of the week."
