Aston Villa goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen is confident he will return to action sooner rather than later after revealing his hamstring injury is not as serious as initially feared.

The Denmark international gave Villa manager Martin O´Neill cause for concern after limping out of Wednesday´s game with Toronto after 35 minutes but he is racing to be ready for the Barclays Premier League opener with Liverpool on August 11.

"The news is a lot better than I thought it would be. When I did the injury, I really thought it might be something serious," he said.
