David Beckham was a spectator as the Los Angeles Galaxy opened their SuperLiga group campaign with a much-needed 2-1 victory over Mexico´s CF Pachuca at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star was ruled out by the ankle injury that limited his Galaxy debut to a 78th minute substitute appearance against Chelsea on Saturday night.

Beckham watched from an executive box as the Galaxy scored for the first time since his arrival through striker Alan Gordon in the 50th minute and again through captain Landon Donovan, handing them a first victory since July 4 to halt a three-game losing streak.
