Preston manager Paul Simpson has demanded that Premiership-bound striker David Nugent returns to training on Monday - but admitted he "honestly doesn´t know what David is thinking".

The 22-year-old England striker has not returned to Deepdale after playing for England under-21s in the European Championships in Holland, and has spent the last week discussing terms with Premiership side Portsmouth.

It is believed Nugent is stalling on a move to Fratton Park in the hope that his boyhood heroes Everton will enter the race for his signature, but Simpson insists that any move must be tied up. He told the Lancashire Evening Post: "I would like David to report back here on Monday and we will take if from there."
