McLeish eyes Anderson progression

Published Add your comment

Alex McLeish believes Russell Anderson´s experience could be an invaluable asset for Sunderland and Scotland over the next 12 months.

The Scotland manager has given his approval following Anderson´s move to Roy Keane´s newly-promoted Barclays Premier League club, which netted Aberdeen £1million on Wednesday - and, having been a central defender, like Anderson, McLeish believes the 28-year-old has every chance of making a success of his move to the Black Cats.

"He´s 28 and you´d like to think at that age you´re reaching your peak," said McLeish. "Even when you´re having an ordinary game you can disguise it with your experience and that´s what he should be able to do."
