Addicks snap up Semedo

Charlton have stepped up their rebuilding process for life in the Coca-Cola Championship by signing Portuguese youngster Jose Semedo on a four-year deal from Sporting Lisbon.

Portugal Under-21 international Semedo, who did not play a first-team game for Sporting, moves to The Valley on a free transfer after spending last season on loan at Serie A side Cagliari.

The highly-rated defender follows another Under-21 star, Frenchman Yassin Moutaouakil, to south-east London.
