Defender Sylvain Distin has quit Manchester City to seek "a fresh challenge".

The stylish French defender has informed Blues officials he will seek a new challenge this summer after five years with the club.

Distin´s decision to snub a massive contract offer had been widely expected, even though former boss Stuart Pearce took a risk in letting the 29-year-old see out the last year of his previous deal in the hope of persuading the former Newcastle player to stay.
