Four of the Premier League’s biggest clubs are set to go head-to-head in the race to sign winger Wilfried Zaha.
The 20-year-old Crystal Palace sensation has been the subject of intense transfer speculation in recent months, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United all linked with a move for the player.
And, whilst the Eagles are yet to receive a formal offer for the one-cap England international, The Guardian claims the Npower Championship side are braced for bids now the January transfer window has opened.
The paper goes on to suggest that, whilst Ian Holloway might hope for a transfer fee of between £15 and £20 million, the south-east London club can realistically expect a fee of £10 million.
Currently fourth in the second tier of English football, the report also claims that Palace will look to do business quickly so that replacements can be drafted in at Selhurst Park to cover Zaha’s absence.
The Daily Star report today (Tuesday) that Tottenham Hotspur are ready to move first for the player, with Andre Villas-Boas preparing a £10 million package offer to bring the player to White Hart Lane.
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson saw Zaha’s ability first hand during a League Cup quarter-final at Old Trafford, and have subsequently been mentioned alongside the player on a number of occasions.
The Daily Star reports that the Red Devils will ‘firm up their interest’ with an £8 million offer for the player.
Zaha isn’t the only attack-minded player to be linked with a January move to Chelsea either, with Demba Ba also thought to be on interim manager Rafa Benitez’s radar at Stamford Bridge.
