The report claims Villas-Boas is considering moves for the £17m-rated Shakhtar Donetsk star Willian and the £20m-rated Internacional striker Leandro Damiao. The Brazilian duo were transfer targets for Spurs in the summer, and Villas-Boas revealed earlier this month that he is set to resume his pursuit for the talented pair, but the report claims Spurs will have to pay big money if they want to bring the Brazil internationals to White Hart Lane.
The Daily Mirror also claims the Tottenham manager wants to bring in three players during the January transfer window. Following the club's 3-1 victory over Reading on New Year's Day, Tottenham sit third in the Premier League table, and the Spurs boss wants to strengthen his squad as they look to qualify for next season's Champions League. And Villas-Boas admitted earlier last week that the north London club are still interested in signing both Willian and Damiao.
Villas-Boas told Brazilian website Lancenet: "We got in touch with Willian and he is one of the players that interests us. I like his style, but we could not reach the value Shakhtar were asking. It does not mean we won't try again.
"Shakhtar are a difficult club to negotiate with as they do not need the money and can keep their players.
"For Damiao, he had a spectacular Olympics. We follow the best players and youngsters. Leandro fits this profile.
"He has had injuries after London 2012, but he is a player that is always on our list."
But, according to the Daily Mirror, Spurs will have to pay a high price if they want to land both targets this month. The report suggests Internacional want nothing less than £20m for Damiao, who top scored for Brazil at the Olympics with six goals in five matches.
The 23-year-old is regarded as one of the best strikers in Brazil, and already has 14 caps for his country.
Willian is rated at £17m by Shakhtar, according to the report, but the Ukrainian club's qualification for the Champions League knock-out round could make it difficult for Spurs to sign him in January.
