Chelsea boss won't rule out move for Manchester City star

Speculation is mounting that Micah Richards could join Chelsea during the January transfer window after the Manchester City defender was spotted at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

According to the Daily Mail, Richards was seen at the main entrance to Chelsea's ground an hour prior to their encounter with Queens Park Rangers in what is, thus far, an unexplained.

Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez was offered the opportunity to clarify the situation following the shock defeat to relegation-threatened QPR but only served to add even further intrigue.

When asked directly if Richards was only at Stamford Bridge to watch the game, Benitez told reporters: "We don’t discuss other teams’ players."

Richards has only made four appearances for Manchester City due to injury, but may struggle to force his way back into Roberto Mancini's side when he regains full fitness.

Manchester City have conceded the fewest goals in the Premier League this season, while Pablo Zabaleta has performed to distinction in Richards' favoured right-back position.
