Real Madrid are preparing to offer Cristiano Ronaldo a whopping €15million-a-year contract to secure the Portuguese forward's long-term future, in a deal that will make him the highest paid player in the club's entire history, reports Spanish publication, Marca.

Recent speculation has suggested the 27-year-old is preparing to leave the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season, following a falling out between player and club over finances regarding advertising and image rights.

When Ronaldo arrived in Spain from Manchester United in an £80million deal in 2009, he gave 50 per cent of his external earnings to Real Madrid, as is the standard procedure for any new players signing for the La Liga giants. But, now he wants that money back.

Thankfully, club president Florentino Perez is willing to compromise with the offer of a lucrative new contract, in the hope Ronaldo will agree so Real Madrid can continue profiting from the image of one of world football's biggest stars.

The fact that it is an election year for presidency of the Spanish capital club, also means that Perez will not want to lose the Portugal international, and risk hampering his chances of re-election.

In order to meet Ronaldo's wage demands, though, the club may be forced to sell in January, with Brazilian playmaker Kaka identified as the man that Jose Mourinho can live without, so strong are his attacking midfield options in the first-team.
