Cristiano Ronaldo has paid tribute to his own amazing form for Real Madrid and Portugal in 2012 by having all his record-breaking statistics stitched onto his boots.

The London Metro reports how the 27-year-old forward - who is known to have quite a big ego - is celebrating another fantastic year of football with the self-publicising stunt.

Ronaldo also plans to randomly select 100 football fans to wear the new Nike design featuring his magical numbers.

"Last season was a very special one for me, helping my team and country achieve success," explained the former Manchester United star.

"It's great to celebrate these achievements and also have a great pair of boots to recognise the moment. I'll enjoy playing in them for sure."

The numbers 1, 9, 14, 19, 27, 55 and 60 all feature on the side of Ronaldo's sparkling boots, with each carefully selected from his 12 months of success.

1 - refers to his first La Liga title with Real Madrid.

9 and 14 - being Ronaldo's amount of goals and games for Portugal.

19 - is the record-breaking number of opponents Ronaldo has scored against.

27 - was Ronaldo's age last year.

But, the most incredible and stand-out numbers are the last two – 55 and 60 – referring to his amazing goal tally in 2012, when Ronaldo found the net 60 times in just 55 matches.

His sensational 12 months has also seen the Real Madrid star shortlisted for this year's FIFA Ballon d'Or award alongside Barcelona duo Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta, with the winner set to be announced on Monday evening at the ceremony in Zurich.

In the meantime, Ronaldo and Real Madrid take on Real Sociedad tonight, with the new boots set to get their debut in the first weekend of La Liga action since Spain’s winter break.
