Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has insisted that Manchester City target Edinson Cavani is not for sale, amid reports that the Premier League champions were ready to bid for the Uruguay striker.
But De Laurentiis insists Cavani, who has a £51m release clause, is not for sale. And the Napoli president went even further, turning the tables on City by revealing he would love to sign controversial striker Mario Balotelli.
The Italian was involved in a training ground spat with Roberto Mancini last week, leading to reports that Manchester City could be willing to sell the former-Inter Milan striker this month to fund a move for Cavani.
And De Laurentiis said: "City want to sell Balotelli to sign Cavani? Well, I would like to have Balotelli with Cavani at Napoli. That is my dream. We are not interested in receiving offers for Cavani.
"We turned down €55m last summer and we did well. Cavani stays with us. There is a buyout clause for this reason.
"Cavani is world class - one of the top 10 players on the planet."
Manchester City lie second in the Premier League, seven points behind league leaders Manchester United, while Napoli sit third in Serie 'A'.
Cavani hit a hat-trick in the Naples' side's last match, helping them into the Champions League qualification spots.
