Video: Pitch invader embarrasses steward in Coupe De France clash

A French football steward has become an Internet hit after taking a tumble over advertising hoardings.

The incident occurred during Lorient’s emphatic 5-1 victory against FC Chauray, with the Ligue 1 visitors flexing their muscle against the minnows in the Coupe De France.

Indeed, the best moment – from a neutrals perspective at least – came when the hosts scored their only goal, with one over-excited supporter making his way onto the pitch to celebrate with his heroes.

The supporter even got a hi-five from a Lorient player before turning over his shoulder to see a steward in pursuit.

Quickly scrambling over the hoardings and onto the railings behind, the fan then missed a moment of comedy gold behind him, with the steward failing to hurdle the sign in-front of him and taking a dramatic tumble.

Angered by his own mistake, the steward then rose to his feet and jumped for the railing, climbing over the top whilst the invader made a quick run for it to the delight of supporters.
