Tottenham Hotspur are being linked with a £15 million move for Brazilian striker Leandro Damiao.
The 23-year-old Internacional star has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in the past, with speculation in the summer claiming Spurs were keen on signing the player.
And, The Daily Telegraph claims Andre Villas-Boas is ready to make his move for the player, with senior striker Emmanuel Adebayor set to complete an international u-turn and play for Togo at the African Cup of Nations.
The White Hart Lane outfit have already agreed a deal to sign Lewis Holtby in the summer transfer window, whilst Tom Huddlestone and Jake Livermore could leave north London in permanent and short-term deals respectively, according to the paper.
Villas-Boas doesn’t want to upset the balance of his Tottenham Hotspur side, but is a long-term admirer of the 14-cap Selecao international, who would add an extra dimension to the club’s attacking options.
Adebayor and Jermain Defoe are the only senior strikers currently on the books at Spurs, although Clint Dempsey could be used in a more advanced position if required and a deal can’t be struck.
However, the USA international does not possess the goalscoring pedigree of Damiao, who was top-scorer at the summer Olympics for Brazil.
His signature would be a coup for Tottenham Hotspur, and the Premier League outfit now have just over three weeks to try and do business with the Beira-Rio outfit.
