Tottenham are reportedly set to make an official approach for Brazil striker Leandro Damiao as Andre Villas-Boas looks to reinforce his goalscoring department during the January transfer window.

Damiao has been linked with a switch to Tottenham for some time and, according to Goal.com, a £15 million bid is being planned by the north London club.

With Emmanuel Adebayor deciding to represent Togo at the Africa Cup of Nations, Spurs are left with only Jermain Defoe as their senior forward, and Damiao has seemingly been identified as player to bolster Villas-Boas' side.

The 23-year-old Brazil international, who ended the 2012 Olympics as the tournament's top scorer, has been the the subject of interest from Spurs for two years, and a renewed approach now seems to be on the cards.

Internacional, the player's current club, are reported to now be willing to part company with Damiao as the Brazilian season is now over - and Spurs are ready to pounce.

Should Spurs formalise their interest in Damiao, they will reportedly have to fend off interest from Inter Milan.
