Rio Ferdinand to snub big money for Manchester United stay
Manchester United transfer news: Rio Ferdinand will snub £300,000-a-week to remain at Old Trafford
Rio Ferdinand is set to snub a £10million offer from abroad to sign a new deal with Manchester United.
According to the Daily Star, the 34-year-old defender has had a number of offers from the Middle East, MLS and China reaching as high as £300,000 per week, but has decided he wants to pledge his future to the Old Trafford club.
Ferdinand’s current contract runs out at the end of this season and the report claims he is yet to be offered a renewal, though will begin talks with the Manchester United hierarchy before the end of this month.
It even claims the former England captain is willing to take a significant pay cut to remain playing under Sir Alex Ferguson; the club are unwilling to continue paying his £110,000-a-week wage, but Ferdinand will agree to cutting nearly half of that and accept a £60,000-a-week deal.
The former Leeds United and West Ham United man has recovered from persistent injury problems over the past year or so to once again become a key component of the United defence.
