Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have all been given a boost in their chase of Spain striker Alvaro Negredo after he admitted a desire to play in the Premier League.
The Sevilla hitman has been linked with being the subject of a bid from both Spurs and the club out of Stamford Bridge, while Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been credited with and interest in the past.
If any of this interest was concrete, it will likely have been piqued by is latest comments, which revealed his interest in playing for a Premier League club and hinting at a possible exit from his current club.
“The Premier League is a great competition, I really like it and I think my style of football would be well-suited to it,” he is quoted as saying in the Evening Standard.
“There comes a time when a cycle comes to an end and I don’t know whether my time will be sooner or later. I haven’t thought about it a lot but I wouldn’t mind playing abroad.”
The story in the Standard also claims Sevilla have been demanding as much as £18million for their start forward, but the financial difficulties being suffered in Spain could mean they do not get as much as that.
However, the price could well increase if all of Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs enter into a bidding war.
