St Etienne striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has revealed that both Manchester United and Manchester City have contacted him over a move.

The Gabon international forward is in great form this season, scoring eight goals to keep his side safely in mid-table in Ligue 1.

It’s form that’s alerted Premier League clubs over a potential move, with The Daily Express reporting earlier in the week that Newcastle United were keen on a player who could fetch as much as £10million in the transfer window.

However, Aubameyang has insisted that he has no intention of leaving in January, despite the fact that both the Red Devils and Citizens have been in contact over a move to England.

"I want to leave with everyone happy," Aubameyang told French magazine Vert Foot.

"I will not leave in this January window. There is contact with the two Manchester clubs and also clubs in Italy, especially Fiorentina and another big Italian club."

A move to Manchester United would be something of a surprise, given the attacking options available to manager Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.

Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck are all vying for first team opportunities, with the Red Devils top scorers in the English top flight by some distance this season.

Manchester City aren’t short of attacking options either, with four international forwards available to Roberto Mancini at the Etihad Stadium.

Sergio Aguero, Carlos Tevez, Mario Balotelli and Edin Dzeko are all desperate to feature for the Citizens, and helped fire the club to the title last season.

And, despite Balotelli’s training ground spat with his manager post-Christmas, Mancini has played down the possibility of his compatriot leaving Manchester City.

Aubameyang’s future appears set with Les Verts however, and after confirming that he wants to stay in France, both Manchester United and City will miss out on this particular target for now at least.
