Video: Carlos Bacca scores 40-yard spin and volley goal

Colombian striker Carlos Bacca has produced an early contender for goal of the year, after he scored a stunning volley for Club Brugge, in their 2-1 mid-season friendly victory against Feyenoord.

Standing 40-yards out with his back to goal, the 26-year-old controls a tentative pass forward with the top of his thighs, before flicking the ball over his own head, and spinning to unleash an unstoppable strike.

The ball flies through the air and into the opposition net, much to the dismay of the Feyenoord goalkeeper, who is helpless to prevent the dipping shot from nestling in the top corner.

It marks a sensational start to Bacca's Club Brugge career in 2013, after he joined the Belgian Pro League side for €1.5million in January last year.

Capped twice at international level for the same country as one of Europe's most prolific marksmen Radamel Falcao, the 5ft 11in striker promised so much in the early stages of his career.

He was named top goalscorer of the 2009 Copa Colombia with 11 goals for former club Junior, and netted 18 goals in 32 appearances in the 2010 Categoria Primera A campaign.

However, after failing to push on in the couple of years after, Colombian media back in Bacca's homeland heralded the fee paid by Club Brugge as "gigantic" for a player that still has everything to prove.
