Arsenal are being linked with a move for versatile Dutch midfielder Urby Emanuelson.
The Daily Star claims Arsene Wenger has set his sights on the 26-year-old, who has struggled to hold down a regular position at AC Milan under manager Massimiliano Allegri.
Emanuelson is a product of the famous Ajax youth academy, spending a decade with the club at junior level before making a professional debut at the Amsterdam Arena back in 2004.
But, after seven years with the Dutch giants, Emanuelson moved to Italy for a cut-price fee in the region of €1.7 million.
However, Arsenal are eager to end his stay in Serie ‘A’, with Wenger looking to bolster his central core during the January window.
French internationals Etienne Capoue and Yann M’Vila have also been linked with moves to the Emirates Stadium, with the Gunners appearing to have a number of options on the table heading towards the second half of the month.
Jack Wilshere, Mikel Arteta, Aaron Ramsey, Santi Cazorla and Abou Diaby are currently at Wenger’s disposal in a 4-3-3 formation, and Emanuelson would give the Arsenal boss a selection headache if he were to join the club later this month.
The Dutchman can also play at full-back or in a more advanced position if required, which would increase the Gunners' options in a variety of positions.
