Spurs have struggled at times this season to break down supposed ‘inferior’ opponents who defend in numbers, the latest example of which came in their drab 0-0 draw against QPR on Saturday.
Tottenham have been linked with numerous creative talents in recent months, chief of which being Shakhtar Donetsk’s Willian and Inter Milan playmaker Wesley Sneijder.
Now though according to the Daily Mail, the north London club are tracking Ilicic, who has been a target for Chelsea in the past.
The 24-year-old, who joined Palermo from Maribor in the summer of 2010, has made over 70 league appearances in Serie A, scoring 14 times in total.
Whether or not that materialises into a concrete offer in January or even at the end of the season is unclear as Spurs pursue other transfer options.
