Lucas Piazon has completed a loan move to La Liga side Malaga until the end of the season, Chelsea boss Rafa Benitez has confirmed.
Piazon arrived at Stamford Bridge at the start of 2012 from Sao Paulo, but has only made one Premier League appearance in that time, as a 74th minute sub in Chelsea’s 8-0 win against Aston Villa in December.
The Brazilian youngster’s only other game time for Chelsea has come in the Capital One Cup where he featured against Wolves and Manchester United recently.
Piazon was unlikely to have had many more chances to get minutes under his belt this season with the likes of Eden Hazard, Juan Mata and Oscar ahead of him in the pecking order, and now Benitez has confirmed the 18-year-old is on his way to Malaga until the end of the season.
The Spanish outfit currently sit in 5th place in La Liga after defeat against Barcelona last weekend and face Porto in the last 16 of the Champions League next month.
Manuel Pellegrini's side will have the chance to gain revenge over Barcelona for their 3-1 home defeat on Sunday when they come up against the Catalan club in the 1st leg of their Cope del Rey quarter-final this week.
