Will Pep Guardiola try to sign Barcelona players for his next project?
Sandro Rossell has warned Pep Guardiola off Barcelona's stars
After Pep Guardiola said "next season I will return to coaching", speculation has hit fever pitch as to a possible landing spot for the ex-Barcelona manager, with Manchester City, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich all supposedly in the running.
Where ever Pep ends up, he will be expected to succeed and will look to build his team to play in the same fashion as Barcelona have played in recent years - so will he try to lure some of his ex-players from Barca to help build his new team?
Barcelona president Sandro Rossell certainly hopes not, telling Spanish Radio station RAC.1: "I hope [Guardiola] focuses his attentions on other players, and not ours."
Having players familiar with his system will certainly help - any transitional period that takes place when a new manager takes over a team will be aided by having familiar faces around the new manager.
Keeping hold of his players may be difficult for Rossell though, after Manchester City apparently tried to poach several players and staff. He added: "There have already been offensives from City at all levels of the strutters of our club but nobody wants to leave."
But Guardiola is renowned for his strong relationships he has with the Barca players, and it may be a different ball-game with Guardiola recruiting them. Either way it will be interesting to see how Guardiola adapts to managing a team without the Barcelona philosophy.
