For Arsenal, and Arsenal fans, the Theo Walcott situation has been an ongoing problem which can't have a positive impact.
But the question is, what will happen?
It has been reported that the contract talks look as if they're finally coming to a close, as I'm sure Arsenal fans will be happy to hear.
Walcott's representatives have been on the phone with Arsene Wenger trying desperately to sort the situation out, and as many reports suggest it looks as if Wenger has managed to get the deal he wanted.
The contract is expected to be completed imminently, and worth around £75,000-per-week. Arsenal fans may ask if he is even worth that amount of money, but that is a whole different matter.
In terms of what Walcott is worth to Arsenal he can be a very valuable asset to the Gunners. Despite Arsenal having the likes of Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud, the Gunners attacking options are limited. So in a sense you could say that with Walcott signing a new contract it feels as if Arsenal have signed a new striker. There is a problem though.
Although Walcott, on his day is superb, he is not consistent enough. Inconsistency has always been Theo's problem at Arsenal. However with Walcott seeming to thrive in this new role upfront, it gives hope to Arsenal fans that his up and down form can eventually be sorted.
Only time will tell how important Theo can be to Arsenal.
