Arsenal scouts will reportedly be in attendance at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening to run the rule over West Ham midfielder Mohamed Diame, as the Hammers meet Manchester United in an FA Cup third round replay.
According to Goal.com, Arsenal plan to watch Diame in action in the hope of being convinced of his fitness before a formal approach is made during the transfer window.
Diame has a release clause written into his West Ham contract that will allow him to leave Upton Park for a cut-price fee, reported to be only £3.5 million, and Arsenal could take advantage of this.
The 25-year-old Senegal international has not played for West Ham since sustaining a hamstring injury against Liverpool in December, and Arsene Wenger has reportedly been waiting for Diame to recover before formalising his interest.
Arsenal are currently without Mikel Arteta for at least the next two weeks and, given the dire injury record of recently returned Abou Diaby, the Gunners could do with reinforcements in midfield.
