Chelsea are reportedly benefiting doubly from the loan of promising youngster Lucas Piazon to Malaga as it has reportedly helped them steal a march over their rivals in the chase for Spanish starlet Isco.
The likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool have all been linked with the 20-year-old in recent months, but now Spanish newspaper El Confidencial are claiming that his likely destination will be Stamford Bridge.
Piazon’s loan was announced earlier this week and he is set to spend the rest of the season with the Primera Liga club in a bid to gain further experience of first team football.
The 18-year-old has made just three senior appearances since he joined Chelsea from Sao Paulo last January, so spending some time with a side still in the Champions League will be of great benefit to Chelsea.
The report claims this has meant Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has now got first option on Isco and is expected to make a €19million offer for him in the summer.
Isco has been in dazzling form so far this season and Malaga are unlikely to be pleased with selling, but financial difficulties could mean they have no option but to accept an offer of that size.
Should he join Chelsea, Isco would line up against fellow Spaniards, Fernando Torres, Juan Mata and Cesar Azpilicueta.
