Tottenham should move for Moutinho again

Published 3 Comments

After reports suggested that Sandro will be out for up to four months at Tottenham Hotspur, will Andre-Villas-Boas go after long-term target Joao Moutinho?

It’s no secret that Villas-Boas would love to bring his fellow countryman and former pupil Moutinho to White Hart Lane, after having a £20million bid rejected in the summer.

With Lewis Holtby not arriving until the summer and the Brazilian out for the foreseeable future, Villas-Boas needs to strengthen in the centre of the park. And who would be more perfect than Moutinho?

His distribution of the ball is phenomenal, and tireless work ethic a big plus in the Premier League. The Portuguese international’s familiarity with Villas-Boas’ system will only help the inevitable transition period any January signing goes through.

With Porto unwilling to sell the midfield maestro, Tottenham will have to pay a pretty penny, but in the end it will be worth the outlay if Spurs were to finish in the top four at the end of the season - thus returning to the Champions League.
