Yann M'Vila of Rennes and West Ham midfielder Mohamed Diame are reportedly under consideration by Andre Villas-Boas following the news that Tottenham will be without Sandro for the remainder of the season.

Sandro has gone under the knife to correct a knee ligament problem and Tottenham are now likely to look for a replacement for the holding midfielder during the January transfer window.

According to Goal.com, Spurs have outlined M'Vila as potential acquisition, having admired the France international for some time, although Diame could be the one to move to White Hart Lane.

Rennes are reported to be keen to sell M'Vila before the transfer deadline with the 22-year-old suffering problems with his discipline, and the player has already been the subject of a bid from former Spurs boss and current Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp.

M'Vila has also been a long-term target for Arsenal, while Spurs may have to battle with their north London neighbours for the signature of Diame, who has been linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsene Wenger, like his Spurs counterpart, is also reportedly searching for midfield reinforcements, and both clubs are likely to be tempted by Diame's cut-price buyout clause.

Diame, who only joined West Ham in the summer, is able to leave Upton Park for just £3.5 million, although the Hammers want to sign the 25-year-old on improved terms.
