Arsenal have reportedly been offered the opportunity to sign France international Yoann Gourcuff on loan from Lyon during the January transfer window.

According to the Daily Mail, Lyon are keen to remove Gourcuff from their wage bill, and the £80,000-a-week midfielder has been touted to Arsenal as the club strive to make reinforcements before the transfer deadline.

Arsenal have been linked with Gourcuff for a number of years but now, it would appear, the Gunners have a realistic opportunity of bringing the Frenchman to the Emirates Stadium.

Gourcuff has made only nine appearances in Ligue 1 for Lyon this season, scoring two goals, and Arsene Wenger could be tempted to take advantage of the former Bordeaux player's situation at the Stade de Gerland.

Arsenal are reported to be in the market for new recruits this month, and midfield has seemingly been identified by Wenger as a key area for bolstering.

Along with Gourcuff, the Gunners are also reported to be pursuing Victor Wanyama of Celtic and Mohamed Diame of West Ham, while Toulouse's Etienne Capoue has also been linked.
