On-loan Chelsea star Thibaut Courtois' father has played down reports linking his son with a move to Barcelona, according to Sky Sports.

The Belgium international was reportedly lined up by the Catalan giants to replace Victor Valdes, who's contract is due to expire in 18 months time.

Courtois has spent the past year-and-a-half at Atletico Madrid on loan from Stamford Bridge, and the 20-year-old keeper has impressed, winning a Europa League and Super Cup title in his time at the Vicente Calderon.

Barcelona are thought to be on the look out for a new goalkeeper, after Valdes revealed he will not renew his contract at the Nou Camp.

Manchester United's David De Gea and Liverpool shot-stopper Pepe Reina have both been linked with Tito Vilanova's side, as has Courtois.

But the former-Genk star has not been approached by the Catalan club, according to the player's father.

"At this moment there is no contract with Barcelona," Thibaut senior told La Derniere Heure.

"A few days ago Thibaut had contact with the goalkeeper coach of Chelsea, who will soon report on his progress at Atletico.

"When this is done, we will work with Chelsea talk about his future."

And Courtois' agent, Christophe Henrotay, echoed his sentiments, adding: "Thibaut will finish the season at Atletico. He belongs to Chelsea, we'll see later but there is no contact with Barca."

Courtois was bought by Chelsea from Belgian side Genk in 2011, but was sent on loan to Atletico almost immediately.

With Petr Cech established as Chelsea number one, the young keeper was handed the opportunity to get first-team football in Spain - an opportunity he seems to have made the most of so far.
