Any set-piece specialist will tell you that failing to beat the first man when delivering either a wide free-kick or a corner, is one of football's biggest cardinal sins.

Well, if that ineptitude isn't infuriating enough for frustrated fans all over the world, take a minute to sympathise with supporters of South American outfit Duque de Caxias.

Fans of the Serie B side - who currently play in Brazil's second division in the local league of Rio de Janeiro - should have been celebrating the return of domestic football as their team took on Botafogo on Sunday evening.

Instead, they were left red-faced after seeing one of their players, Marquinhos, whip in one of the worst corners ever.

The dead-ball man attempts to fire a fizzing cross into the box, in the hope it will be met by one of his team-mates to hammer home from close-range.

Marquinhos's intentions, and what actually happened couldn't have been further apart, as the player ends up kicking the ball low, and out of play, before it even reaches the six-yard box.
