January move for Zaha denied as Manchester United prepare transfer talks

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish insists Wilfried Zaha won’t be leaving Selhurst Park in the January transfer window - however a deal with Manchester United is close according to reports.

The 20-year-old has attracted interest from Premier League clubs thanks to his stellar performances for Palace over the past two seasons, which helped earn him an international call-up for England last year.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham have all been linked with a move for the 20-year-old in the past, with the Red Devils emerging as the clear favourite to secure his services.

However it now looks likely Zaha will stay put this winter and help Palace with their push for promotion before leaving in the summer.

Manchester United Chief Executive David Gill has previously hinted a move for Zaha could be put back until the end of the season, and now Parish has confirmed he doesn’t intend on selling up before the close of the winter window.

"Right now, he's a Crystal Palace player and he'll be a Crystal Palace player in the summer," he told The Independent.

"That's the only thing I can tell you. He'll definitely be playing for us until the end of May whatever happens.

"I've said it countless times – there's no way the player is going to leave the club in January. That's where we are and that's where we've always been with it."

Manchester United appear to have a clear run at Zaha  after Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger insisted he had no intention of making a move for the talented youngster.

“We were never in for Zaha," Wenger said. "I don't know if he will go to Man United. If he goes to Manchester United, good luck to him."

Palace have previously insisted it would take an offer of £20 million to persuade them to sell up, however a bid of around £12 million may be more realistic.

Reports today suggest Manchester United officials will meet with their Palace counterparts to discuss a potential transfer, although whether that is to discuss a deal which could see Zaha remain on loan at Selhurst Park until the end of the season remains unclear.

According to BBC Sport, Sir Alex Ferguson has remained behind as his squad travel to Qatar for a four day warm-weather training camp in order to keep tabs on the situation.
