Arsenal are ready to make their move for Barcelona striker David Villa, according to reports.

The Sun claims Arsene Wenger is hoping to land the 31-year-old on the cheap, and is preparing a £10million offer for the Spanish international striker.

The Gunners had initially been linked with a £15million bid for the player, but the paper claims Wenger will not pay such a high price for someone in their 30s.

And, whilst the Catalan giants insist Villa is not for sale this month, the report goes on to suggest that the former Valencia star is ready to force his way out of the Nou Camp.

The need for a striker is great at the Emirates Stadium, with Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott the only senior options currently available to Wenger ahead of tonight's clash against West Ham.

Villa would instantly add extra depth and quality to the Arsenal attack, as well as bring experience from the top table of European football.

However, fans in north London may have to sweat on a potential deal, with The Sun claiming Wenger will look to do his business in the final 48 hours of the transfer window.
