Swansea City could also welcome back a defender in the shape of Chico Flores, after he missed the clash against Stoke with a knee injury. German keeper Gerhard Tremmel is set to feature in goal, as he has done in the previous rounds.

Michu targets first final after penning Swans deal

Swansea City fans received a huge boost of confidence going into tonight’s semi-final second leg against Chelsea, with their Spanish superstar Michu having signed a new contract.

The Swans go into the game with a 2-0 advantage over the Blues, with the chance to play Bradford City in the final at Wembley at stake.

The attacking midfielder’s new deal commits him to the club until 2016, and his performances have been a revelation at the club since joining from Rayo Vallecano in the summer.

The 26-year-old has hit 16 goals in all competitions for Swansea this season, and told the club’s official website: “I’m really happy here in the city with the people, the club and the fans.

“Everyone has been so nice to me since I arrived.”

Michu was relatively unknown when Michael Laudrup signed him for £2 million back in the summer of 2012, but he has since become the bargain of the season, helping the Swans beat the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea to lift them to 9th in the Premier League table.

The attacking midfielder, who can also play as a centre-forward, is relishing the chance to play in a final, having only reached the round of 32 with Rayo Vallecano in the Copa del Rey.

Michu added: “It’s easy to play with this team and tonight I have the chance to reach the first final of my career.”
