Chelsea and Manchester City have been given a boost in their chase for hotshot Radamel Falcao after Atletico Madrid’s general manager insisted he would not be joining city rivals Real Madrid.

The Colombia international has been linked with moves to both Stamford Bridge and the Etihad Stadium but it was reported that Jose Mourinho wanted him at Santiago Bernabeu.

Fans of Atletico would most likely not be best pleased if their best player transferred to los Blancos and it would be professional suicide for the club’s officials to admit it, never mind sanction it.

Falcao has been in scintillating form since moving to La Liga from Porto in Portugal, so it is unsurprising that two of the richest clubs in the world in Chelsea and Manchester City are chasing his signature.

However, they are not the only wealthy clubs in the world and petro-cash backed PSG drew some encouraging comments from the 26-year-old.

Gil Marin was quite clear when speaking to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo about Falcao.

“Falcao is not going to Real Madrid,” said Marin before admitting he was getting exasperated with the constant questions.

Chelsea have already signed Demba Ba in the transfer window, so a move for Falcao in January is unlikely.

However, Mario Balotelli has been linked with a move away from the Citizens this window and so a space could open up in Roberto Mancini’s squad for another striker.
