French international shuns Premier League interest

Rennes midfielder, Yann M'Vila, has rejected a chance to move to the Premier League and has joined Russian side, Rubin Kazan.

The Ligue 1 side confirmed the news late on Wednesday evening, ending all speculation of M'Vila moving to the Premier League this January, with QPR and Fulham heavily linked with the France international.

The 22-year-old, who is banned from representing his country until June 2014, was reportedly set for a switch to Arsenal in the summer, but a move never materialised and M'Vila remained with Rennes.

Since Harry Redknapp took over at QPR, the former Tottenham boss made M'Vila one of his top January transfer targets, with QPR owner Tony Fernandes readying a bid for the hard-hitting centre-midfielder after landing Newcastle target Loic Remy earlier in the window.

But this latest development will come as a blow to Redknapp and QPR, and they will have to turn their attentions elsewhere in their search for new recruits to help in Rangers' fight for survival.

A Rennes statement read: "Stade Rennais, FC Rubin Kazan and Yann M'Vila have reached an agreement for the permanent transfer of the French international.

"After the traditional medical visit, the Rennes midfielder joined the Russian club officially on Wednesday evening."
