Xavi to sign new contract at Barcelona
New deal will keep World Cup winner Xavi Hernandez at Barcelona until 2016
FC Barcelona confirmed on their official website that midfield maestro Xavi Hernandez will sign a contract extension on Monday.
The new deal is set to keep him at the Catalan giants until the end of June 2016.
Xavi has been at the club since he was just 11-years-old, rising through the famous La Masia academy with the likes of fellow countrymen Andres Iniesta and Carles Puyol.
The Spaniard holds the record for most appearances for Barcelona, having played over 700 times for the Catalonia club.
During his 21 years of service at the Nou Camp, the pass-master has won many trophies - including the Champions League three times and the La Liga title on six different occasions.
Xavi has also been named the third best player in the world three years running, between 2009 and 2011.
The Spanish playmaker, who is 33 tomorrow, has also been at the heart of Spain's midfield since making his international debut in 2000, winning the World Cup and European Championships on two occasions for La Roja.
Xavi's contract extension comes after club captain Puyol and Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi also signed new deals at Barca.
