Owen frustrated by injury niggles

Published Add your comment

Former England striker Michael Owen has spoken of his frustration at yet another injury-hit season.

The 33-year-old, who was released by Manchester United last summer after three injury-ravaged years, has failed to make the impact he wanted since joining Stoke last September. That has again mostly been down to fitness problems but Owen admits there have been "other reasons" for his lack of action.

Speaking in 'Potters', Stoke's official matchday programme, Owen said: "It hasn't quite worked out as planned for whatever reason and part of that is due to having a couple of niggling injuries, but other parts of it are down to other reasons."
