Published Add your comment

Rowan Vine fired Birmingham to the top of the Coca Cola Championship - and then admitted he could have joined local promotion rivals West Brom during the January transfer window.

Vine revealed Albion had been close to securing his signature until Steve Bruce swooped after losing Nicklas Bendtner to an ankle injury caused by City´s notorious pitch in early January.

Vine told PA Sport: "There were a couple of offers that came in for me. Cardiff and West Brom were there or thereabouts. When Birmingham made it apparent they were interested, I think they made it their business to get me."
